**Ingredients:**

*Bread Pudding:*

- 4 cups (8 slices) cubed white bread

- 1/2 cup raisins

- 2 cups milk

- 1/4 cup butter

- 1/2 cup sugar

- 2 eggs, slightly beaten

- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

*Sauce Ingredients:*

- 1/2 cup butter

- 1/2 cup sugar

- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

**Instructions:**

1. **Prepare Bread Pudding:**

   - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.

   - In a large bowl, combine the cubed white bread and raisins.

   - In a saucepan, heat the milk and 1/4 cup butter over medium heat until the butter is melted (4 to 7 minutes). Pour this mixture over the bread and raisins. Let it stand for 10 minutes.

   - Stir in the sugar, beaten eggs, vanilla extract, and ground nutmeg until well combined. Pour the mixture into the greased casserole dish.

   - Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until the pudding is set in the center.

2. **Prepare Vanilla Sauce:**

   - In a separate saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, brown sugar, and heavy whipping cream. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and comes to a full boil (5 to 8 minutes).

   - Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

3. **Serve:**

   - Spoon warm bread pudding into individual dessert dishes.

   - Serve each portion of bread pudding with a generous drizzle of warm vanilla sauce.

   - Store any leftovers refrigerated for later enjoyment.
